The Forum is delighted to welcome Kenyan Fairtrade Tea producer and environmental activist Julius Ethang’atha on his tour of Scotland during Fairtrade Fortnight 2008.
His tour will take him from Edinburgh Zoo to Oban to Aberdeen, with stops in other areas of Scotland as well.

For many who live in rich, developed countries life has never been better. They are able to enjoy material wealth, standards of living and personal freedoms that were unknown to earlier generations.
Yet the global systems that have transformed their lives for the better have failed to improve - and have arguably worsened - the lives of grinding poverty that hundreds of millions of their fellow human beings endure in the developing countries of Africa, Latin America and South and East Asia. A shining exception to this depressing reality has been the spectacular growth in the demand for Fair Trade.

The following have been nominated as candidates for election to the SFTF Interim Board 2008-09. Elections will take place at a General Meeting in Glasgow City Chambers on Saturday 2 February 2008.

FAIRTRADE FOUNDATION WELCOMES DFID SURVEY "VINDICATION OF YEARS OF CAMPAIGNERS' VISION"
The Fairtrade Foundation welcomes the results of the Department for International Development (DFID) survey released today, showing people are increasingly recognizing they can use their shopping power as a way to help tackle poverty in the developing world.
The Scottish Fair Trade Forum is calling for nominations for Interim Board Members for 2008-09. Each of 4 membership categories – 'Individuals,' 'Small Businesses & Organisations,' 'Medium-sized Businesses & Organisations' & 'Large Businesses & Organisations' – will be able to elect up to 3 Board Members per category.
