Please find attached (linked) the SFTF June 2008 Newsletter.

It includes:

  • A report from Betsy Reed, SFTF Coordinator, who has reecently returned from her trip to Kenya visiting the Kiegoi and Michimikuru factories that lie in the centre of the country.  These areas were benefitting from having access the Fair Trade market for 5 years and Betsy was able to witness first hand the contribution this has made to the local people and community.
  • Renfrewshire Council push multi-nationals to source fairly traded options when sourcing products, condemning all exploitation of workers and resources in developing countries. (see website)
  • A review of the Fair Trade Schools Conference that took place in the University of Glasgow on the 12th June.
  • Wales declared world's first Fair Trade Nation. Comment from John McAllion, SFTF Chair. (see Fair Trade Wales Website)

As always we are very keen to hear about any Fair Trade activity that may be going on in your area. We would love to hear about any ideas you may have about promoting Fair Trade products or any events that you may know are taking place over the summer.

All the Best,
Betsy
