Hello from the Scottish Fair Trade Forum!
I hope all of you were able to enjoy some of the many Fair Trade activities that took place round Scotland during Fairtrade Fortnight 2008 (Feb 25 - March 9).
It was good to see and speak with many of you as our Fairtrade tea producer guest from Kenya, Julius Ethang'atha, and I made a grand tour of Scotland during Fairtrade Fortnight. Julius was surprised and thrilled at the energy and commitment to Fair Trade he encountered in Scotland.
Please find attached (linked) the Scottish Fair Trade Forum's March newsletter. In it, you'll find an updates on Julius's tour of Scotland during Fairtrade Fortnight, a featured product and more.
There are plans to expand the format of our newsletter and include regular features and guest writers. World Fair Trade Day is coming up on May 10 as well. If you have news to pass along about upcoming World Fair Trade Day events, action taken by your local council, local Fair Trade achievements or any other news, please contact our newsletter editor, Andrew Farquhar, at ajfarquhar4@hotmail.com.
Thanks again to all of you who planned and hosted Fairtrade Fortnight events in 2008, and an especially big thanks to those who hosted me and Julius for a meal, an overnight stay or a quick rest. Many, many thanks.
Scotland continues to lead the way on Fair Trade with its Fair Trade Nation campaign, built on the solid foundation of decades of committed activism by people all over Scotland. Keep up the good work and stay in touch!
All the best,
Betsy
