Camglen Fair Trade Forum

Want to make a difference? - Then the Camglen Fair Trade Forum Needs You!

Background Achievements

Since the Camglen Fair Trade Forum was set up 4 and a half years ago we have had many successes in campaigning for a fairer deal for some of the world's poorest people. Working together has allowed us to organise events such as the Big Sign Up, Ceilidh, Annual Fairtrade Evening, Poster and Poem competition, plus deliver presentations to schools and local community organisations. Furthermore, we have built relationships with fairtrade supporters and groups from our area and beyond. Significant recent achievements include Rutherglen and Cambuslang becoming the 1000'th Fairtrade Towns and being at the centre of the drive to make South Lanarkshire a Fairtrade Zone.

Moving Forward - your help needed!

We are now at the stage of looking for new members to join the Steering Group. We want to meet people who care about building a fairer world and who can attend approximately 9 meetings per year. We are interested in speaking to anyone who wants to find out more. Roles include being a helper at specific events through to those of you who have an interest in media, administration and leadership roles. Ideally we are looking to invite people to apply for the position of Media Officer, Secretary and Coordinator. All of these roles will be mentored by current Steering Group members who aim to create a supportive learning environment.

Interested but not sure about committing?

Then don't worry!!! We are keen to meet anyone who is interested for a chat/coffee and to explain things further in a relaxed manner. I am also happy to speak to people by phone or communicate via email/Skype if you prefer. Finally, here is a wee YouTube link which explains what a Fairtrade Town involves Please let us know if you are interested by emailing Kieran at by the 7th of May or checkout our website at
