Fairtrade Fortnight 2016 will run from the 29 February until 13 March. The theme of this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight is “sit down for breakfast and stand up for farmers!” Participate in the movement by organizing your own Fair Trade breakfast (at any time of the day!)
During Fairtrade Fortnight Fair Trade retailers have lots of special offers on Fair Trade products, so it is the perfect opportunity to try out some new Fair Trade products, or stock up on your old favourites. Our list of Fair Trade shops and suppliers in Scotland can be found here.
Two producers will be touring Scotland this year to promote Fair Trade. From 7th March to 12th March, we will be visited by Fatima Ismael, the co-manager of SOPPEXCCA, a coffee cooperative based in Nicaragua. Additionally, Pamela, a producer of Fairtrade cotton partnered with KoolSkools, will be here to present hoodies to the winners of the School Hoodie design competition at a schools event on 1st March.
Have a look at our events page to keep up to date with the events being organised near you for Fairtrade Fortnight, and don’t forget to add your own Fairtrade Fortnight event to our events calendar! Our guest from Nicaragua will be present at numerous events, so we encourage you to come and hear her story.
More information about Fairtrade Fortnight and how to get involved can be found on the Fairtrade Foundation website.
