A big thanks to the pupils and teachers of Daliburgh School, South Uist! The School celebrated this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight with a wide range of activities which saw the pupils being very creative. Just one of the impressive outputs of their efforts can be seen in the schools commemorative logo which was designed by the pupils, and is soon to be printed on Fairtrade eco-bags.
The week has proved very successful in raising awareness about the impact supporting Fair Trade can have. One pupil says the week has taught them “how schools are paid for by the Fairtrade products we buy”, another noted that they have found out about “Cimar a chidicheas tu daoine bochda” (How we can help poorer people). All in all the week has been another great achievement in educating Scotland’s communities about the benefits of fair-trade for producers in developing countries.
Here is one of the finished Eco-Bags, bareing the logo designed by the pupils of Dailiburgh School! Fantastic work, and a brilliant way to draw attention to Fair Trade!
