Date: Tuesday 25 September 2018
The International Fair Trade Charter has been agreed by the two largest international Fair Trade organisations, Fairtrade International and the WFTO. The new Charter refreshes the vision of Fair Trade and seeks to highlight Fair Trade’s longstanding role in addressing challenges such as inequality, gender rights, climate change and other topics of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Charter was originally launched in early 2009 by the WFTO to provide a concise explanation of Fair Trade principles and the two main routes by which these principles can be implemented. The Charter will be publicly launched on 25 September, the third anniversary of the adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2030.
As part of the global launch of the new International Fair Trade Charter, the Scottish Fair Trade Forum is hosting an informational event for our partners and supporters.
The event will have various speakers including Erinch Sahan from the World Fair Trade Organisation and and Michael Gidney from the Fairtrade Foundation. The event will be held in the Scottish Parliament and the Minister for Europe, Migration and International Development, Mr Macpherson MSP, will be in attendance. Full details and registration can be found on our Eventbrite.
