Performance Room

The Performance Room will be the main events room, where a series of talks, discussions, performances and film screenings will serve to inform, captivate and amuse throughout the day. There is more to be confirmed, but at the moment the programme includes:

The Deputy Provost and Chair: The Deputy Provost of Perth and Kinross, Bob Band, and the Chair of the Scottish Fair Trade Forum, Martin Meteyard, will introduce the festival

Tom Morton’s ‘Fairly Good Show’: Music and conversation from the BBC Radio Scotland DJ, reflecting on his Fairly Long Bike Ride last year to raise awareness of Fair Trade

Humza Yousaf MSP: MSP for the Glasgow Region, and Minister for External Affairs and International Development

Jayde Bradley: A senior campaigns officer at Traidcraft working on a variety of issues, including the campaign for tougher regulation of supermarkets. This notably involved lobbying a government minister while accompanied by a colleague dressed as a giant dog – come to her talk to hear why!

Yunita Anggraini and Ukrumah Suda: Fair Trade producers Nita and Uuk have both travelled all the way from Indonesia to speak at this event. They work for Pekerti Nusantara, an Indonesian company that produces Fair Trade handicraft products from different materials and cultural backgrounds

Performances from Scottish schools: Music, presentations, and even a smoothie bike will be brought to the festival by schools all across the country

Film Screening: The premiere of a film made by campaigners and produced by members of Forth Valley College, Scotland’s first Fair Trade college, showing a cross section of the work being carried out by campaigners to raise awareness of Fair Trade in Scotland

The Fair Trade Awards: The first ever Scottish Fair Trade Awards, to be given to outstanding nominees from various organisations and areas of the Fair Trade movement

Fair Trade Wales: Scotland is the second ever Fair Trade Nation, but it was Wales who beat us to it! We will also show a video message specially recorded for us by the Welsh First Minister

The Fairtrade Foundation: The UK member of Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International, tasked with licensing the use of the FAIRTRADE logo on UK products

British Association of Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers (BAFTS): An association of independent members seeking to bring about a fundamental change in the status of developing world producers through Fair Trade retailing and campaigning
