1) What’s your role at the Forum?
I'm the coordinator of Fair Trade in schools which involves tasks like finding speakers and materials for schools, updating the schools webpages, sending out Fair Trade news to our schools mailgroup such as a new resource, and liaising with the DECs (Development Education Centres) in Scotland.
2) What have you been working on recently?
I am currently working on updating the Fairtrade Schools database in Scotland, which is a huge task. The Fairtrade Schools Award changed last year so I've had to start from scratch and with over 1,200 schools on the scheme it's a bit daunting.
3) How did you get interested in Fair Trade?
I honestly can't remember. I guess it all began as a teenager when I became appalled at the injustices in the world and joined Amnesty International.
4) What has been your highlight since you joined the Forum?
It's difficult to pick one but for me the highlights are meeting the children and young people involved in Fair Trade through schools conferences and learning about their work, and also, meeting the different Fair Trade producers each year.
5) What’s your favourite Fair Trade product?
I don't have a particular favourite, but I always enjoy my Fairtrade cuppa in the morning. I love cooking and baking and enjoy using Fair Trade ingredients. I'm a keen vegetable and fruit grower so can appreciate the work Fair Trade producers do to grow the food we eat and other products we use.
