Fairtrade Fortnight 2020 will take a look at the revitalisation of the Rwandan coffee sector through the screening and launch of The Perfect Balance.
The Perfect Balance is a film that celebrates the progress that has been achieved by the Challenges’ Rwandan Coffee Project, of which the forum is a partner.
As the project is halfway through its five-year mission to support the growth of eight Rwandan coffee co-ops, this film provides details on how trading Fairtrade has affected the journey to living incomes for Rwandan communities, of which we also learned of through Aimable Nshimiye’s visit to Scotland during Fairtrade Fortnight 2019.
Whilst Aimable may not be visiting Scotland for Fairtrade Fortnight this year, he can be seen in the film above, working with a commercial partner to ensure top prices for the Sholi Coffee cooperative.
Since the project's launch in 2017, raising the quality of coffee as well as building sustainable infrastructure in the Rwandan coffee sector has been vital to establish Rwanda as a high quality producer of coffee.
