Tell your MSPs that you want Scotland to meet its responsibilities as a Fair Trade Nation in how it spends public money.
On the 20 February, the Stage 1 debate on the Procurement Reform Bill will be taking place in the Scottish Parliament. This will be an opportunity for MSPs to debate the Bill. The Forum wants the Bill to recognise that Scotland as a Fair Trade Nation should set an example by choosing Fair Trade procurement as a key part of public sector spending commitments. It is estimated that the public sector in Scotland spends £9billion a year buying goods and services – there is a huge potential to increase Fair Trade purchasing through public spending.
Contact your local MSPs and ask them to speak in the debate and call for Scotland’s Fair Trade Nation status to be recognised in the Procurement Reform Bill.
