Congratulations to West Dunbartonshire for achieving Fairtrade Zone status! The Fairtrade Foundation awards this to areas which have satisfied the five goals which include gaining council support; making a range of Fairtrade products available in retail and catering outlets; establishing local workplace and community organisation support; organising media coverage and events to raise awareness; and creating a local Fairtrade Steering group to continue the campaign.
West Dunbartonshire’s Fairtrade Networking Group has been working hard for over two years in order to achieve the Fairtrade Zone status. The next steps for the group are to establish a directory of Fairtrade stockists, and to encourage further use of Fairtrade products in staff rooms, canteens, or for workplace clothing.
