Fairtrade Status
In 2004 the University of Edinburgh become one of the first two universities to gain Fairtrade Status in the UK. Between then and now, eight other Scottish universities have joined the group, with several more submitting applications or preparing to apply. At present, the following universities are Fairtrade:
Edinburgh Napier University
Heriot Watt University
Queen Margaret University
University of Aberdeen
University of Abertay
University of Dundee
University of Edinburgh
University of Glasgow
University of St Andrews
In March 2011, Forth Valley College was the first college in Scotland to be awarded Fairtrade Status.
The Scottish Fair Trade Forum actively supports and encourages Scottish universities and colleges to work towards Fairtrade Status. We work with student groups and staff, and have regularly attended events to speak, hand out our ever welcome chocolate samples and discuss Fairtrade University and College policies.
