Development Education Centres
There are six Development Education Centres (DECs) in Scotland. The DECs have a resource library with a wide range of information on global issues, including Fair Trade, for use in schools and the community. Click here to find the contact details of your local DEC on our contacts page.
Are you a Fairtrade School? DVD
This DVD is now available to borrow from your local DEC or in our Schools Toolkit. The DVD has all you need to know about becoming a Fairtrade School, including how to upload your evidence and lots of fun ideas for activities and events.

SFTF Cotton Game: Making Shirts
Making Shirts is a game exercise designed to encourage children aged seven to ten to think about how trade works through making them experience unfair trade directly. It can be used either on its own or in conjunction with other cotton resources. Click on the above link to download a free copy of the game.
Labour Behind the Label (LBTL)
LBTL has a new resource pack to download called Step Into Her Trainers, which is aimed at 14 to 16 year olds. This pack focuses on sportswear and is aimed specifically at schools in the run up to 2012, dealing with issues of procurement and workers' rights. Also, a new report on India - Taking Liberties: the Story Behind the UK High Street - has just been released and can be downloaded. In general LBTL has a vast amount of resources stored online for you to browse through and download.
EthCo is a group based at Strathclyde University and has developed some excellent resources on ethical business for use in schools at all levels. All these resources are free to download once you've registered with them. Registration is free, too. Click on the link above to register and download the materials.
Scottish Fair Trade Forum Toolkit for Schools
This essential resource is now available and is free for schools working towards Fairtrade status in Scotland. It includes all the information you need on becoming a Fairtrade School as well as on our Fair Trade Cotton School Uniform and Sportswear Campaign. Scottish Fair Trade Forum
The SFTF has been working directly with Fairtrade producers to create this delightful short play that you can use in the classroom. Just click on the link above to download the script and click here to download the Teacher's Book that accompanies the play.
Story: The Cotton Fields and the Astronaut
This short story, especially written for the Forum by David Armstrong, is an excellent resource to use as an introduction to cotton and the issues surrounding it. It is written from the viewpoint of an Uzbekistani school pupil who works in the cotton fields. David has very kindly given permission for it to be used in schools.

Brand New Andrew and Fair Trade Fred
These great new teaching packs aimed at Lower Primary, Middle-Upper Primary and Secondary Schools have been put together by Gillian Geddes of the Hopscotch Theatre Company, based on their theatre production 'Brand New Andrew and Fair Trade Fred'. The packs include lesson plans, activities and explanations of how these are linked to the different areas of the Curriculum for Excellence. There are also song lyrics about Fair Trade to download. Hopscotch Theatre has kindly given us permission to put these resources on our website.
