Hi, my name is Colum Scriven of Rainbow Turtle, the Fair Trade shop and charity based in Paisley.
I would like to congratulate Scotland on reaching its 10th anniversary as a Fair Trade Nation.
For me it’s less of a milestone than it is an indicator of the type of country that I’m proud to live in.
It looks outwards to other parts of the world.
It’s an open space that wants to share its skills and resources with others.
It’s also a nation that wants to trade fairly with farmers and producers in other countries.
It’s created trading relationships with places like Malawi in order to allow its land-locked products access to European markets.
So well done to the people of Scotland in achieving this incredible record, and here’s to the next 10 years of Scotland as a Fair Trade Nation.
