In June this year, Nestlé UK & Ireland announced that it will no longer source sugar and cocoa on Fairtrade terms for its KitKats.

In this open letter, cocoa farmers in Côte d’Ivoire expressed their regret and concern at the changes: “Stopping the relationship with Fairtrade is a silence to our voices,” says Atse Ossey Francis on behalf of the Ivorian Fair Trade Network.

Their request is clear: “On behalf of cocoa farmers in Côte d’Ivoire, we ask Nestlé to keep KitKat Fairtrade.”

Here in Scotland, we have been working with organisations and campaigners to ensure these farmers’ voices are heard.

And we will need the support of our members, campaigners and supporters in Scotland to amplify their voices and fight this injustice.

We will be back in touch very soon to let you know how you can help. Please keep a close eye on your inbox and on FacebookTwitter for actions in the next few days.
